Girls Group B medal goes to Germany

The girls in group B (15-16 years old) did not bring any surprises in the 1-meter springboard. The three leaders in the preliminary competitions repeated their success in the final with remarkable accuracy. Johanna Krauss from Germany won her first world title with 341.95 points thanks to the successful performance of the last third jump – 105 B. Thus Krauss pushed from the first place Italian Elisa Pizzini. Host athlete, Ukrainian Ksenia Baylo became the bronze medalist. The Republic of Korea, Croatia and Sweden are also in the top six.

Johanna Krauss, the winner: “It’s a very nice feeling of being the world champion. This is unexpected, but I am really happy and proud of myself. It’s my first Junior diving world championship and my first title. The last dive,105 B, was the most difficult for me. I was a little nervous.»

Elisa Pizzini, silver medalist: ” I’m a little upset. Usually, I dive better than today, but I’m glad of the medal anyway. Reverse 1 1/2 Som Twist 1 1/2 was the hardest for me. It’s my first medal in this season and the first world medal.”

Ksenia Baylo, bronze medalist: “The Preliminary round was much more difficult. Springboard is not my main discipline, because I specialise in the platform. First of all, I competed with myself, in the final I managed to score more points than in the morning session. In general, I am satisfied with my performance.”

The 23rd FINA World Junior Diving Championships staged in Kyiv LIKO Sports Center until December, 9, will proceed tomorrow with 3 more medals sets on offer – in the Girls A 1m springboard, Girls B platform and Boys A/B 3m synchro springboard.
